Guru Nanak College Sukhchainana Sahib was founded in the year 1970 to commemorate the 500th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The College has a lush green Eco-friendly campus with a picturesque landscape in the vicinity of historic Gurudwara Sukhchainana Sahib Phagwara, Kapurthala.
The library is the backbone of any civilized society and the heart of any academic institution. Guru Nanak Central Library came into existence as the institute was founded. With the passage of time the college flourished and so did the number of books and the grandeur of the library. Approximately more than 26000 books in Punjabi, Hindi and English languages are available in the library to fulfill the needs of the syllabus in Arts, Computer Science, and Commerce. Apart from this, a number of Newspapers, Periodicals, and Magazines are subscribed to cater to the needs of the students. Modern facilities like photostat, Computers, the Internet, e-Journals, e-books, and blog writing have also been provided. In the beginning, the responsibility for the upkeep of the library was entrusted to Prof. Balram Vaid (H.O.D. Department of Economics), Shri Gurparsad Chadha (Office Supt.). The first official librarian was S. Surinder Singh Chahal followed by Dr. Jagir Singh Noor, Smt. Raj wants Kaur, S. Kamal Preet Singh, and Dr. Sukhdev Singh.

- The library has all the modern infrastructure and facilities.
- Books are classified and arranged well as per Dewey decimal classification; so, the members can locate the books within seconds.
- The library is computerized. The circulation system (Issue, Return, Reservation) is based on a computer system. Apart from the conventional library, the library has a digital library that contains sufficient digital documents such as E-books, E-journals.
- The Library is equipped with the latest hardware/software for the Database server and UPS system. All systems are supported by a 24 * 7 uninterrupted power supply
- The creation of an automation Library using open source (KOHA) software.
