Library Hours & Holidays


The Library offers its services Practically throughout the year. It remains closed on National and Gazetted Holidays. It remains open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all working days
Rules and Regulations :


General Eligibility:
Guru Nanak Central Library resources are available to
• Those students are enrolled in different courses undertaken by the college.
• Those who are members of the faculty and non-teaching staff of the college.

Borrowing:
Loan allowances:
• Undergraduate can borrow up to 3 books at a time.
• Post Graduates can borrow up to 5 books at a time.
• Staff of the college can borrow up to 8 books at a time.
Loan period:
• Staff can borrow books for one month
• Student can borrow books for 14 days.
Conditions of Loan:
Penalties for damaged,mutilated or defected book shall be fixed by the college librarian.
Reference books, rare books, periodicals and such other reading materials marked for consultation with in the library shall not be issued out for loan except with the special permission of the college librarian.
Borrower must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the books before borrowing, otherwise they will be held responsible for any damage or mutilation noticed later or at the time of returning.
Penalties for damaged, mutilated or defected by making shall be fixed by the college librarian.
Loan of books is not renewable, in case it is in demand by another user.

Use of text books collection:
Textbook collection comprises of reading materials covering prescribed readings, recommended readings, allied & relational readings and such other books as may be considered important for placement along with such collections. Some copies of text books as may be considered necessary will be kept for consultation only and can not be issued. In case of heavy demand of certain books the preference will be given according to the reservation Facility to reserve text book.

Access facilities:• 
All bonafide members are entitled to access electronic resources through user ID Password. User ID password may be obtained from the library staff.
• However bulk copying, systematic downloading or use of such electronic materials for commercial purposes and such other uses which are in violation to IPR rules or other relevant rules and regulations of the country is strictly prohibited.
• Strict action will be taken if any branch of law is discovered. The members have the privilege of direct access to the shelves in the stack halls and the freedom to browse books during specified, hours subject to certain requirements of the library.
• The library books are for the benefit of not only the present but also the future members of the library. They should, therefore, be handled with every care and consideration.
• It is important that the classified arrangement of books, according to the numbers, is maintained on the shelves for the convenience of the members themselves.

Over due charges:
• The member is expected to return borrowed books on or before the due date.
• An overdue charge of Rs. 1/- per day per volume will be levied for the late return of books.

Loss of books or library tickets:
• Neither books nor membership card be lent to another person.
• The member is responsible for the books borrowed on his/her/ library card.
• Loss of library books or membership card must be reported in writing to the librarian immediately.

Information for staff member:
1. 8 books shall be issued to the staff members. To avail the library facility in the next year it is compulsory to return all the books by 30th March of every year. If the books are not returned to the library, facility will be withdrawn and will be opened after the permission from the principle.
2. In case a book is mutilated or lost the cost of the book has to be paid. If book is available in the market then it has to be replaced by latest edition.
3. A “NO DUE” certificate will be issue only after receipt of all the books borrowed from the library or a proper settlement to the complete satisfaction of librarian.

Services:
Mutilation of material: so that the rights of others may be protected, readers who underline words or deface, mark, cut or other wise mutilate a book will be assessed the full cost involved in replacing the damaged volume.
Thoughtful readers will help the library keep its collections in the best possible physical condition in order that future readers also may enjoy the resources of the library.

1.Q: where do I return books?
Ans: Books can be returned to the circulation desk during allowed hours in the library.
2.Q: I have lost my library I D card, how do I get a replacement?
Ans: Duplicate cards can be obtained from the library after completing certain formalities like submitting a request form and amount as per rules.
3.Q: Can I borrow journals?
Ans: In most cases once journal are bound, it is possible to borrow a journal. Users are unable to lend the current issues of journals. A journal is held current until a subsequent issue is received.
4.Q: Can all types of books issued to the readers?
Ans: Reference books, rare books and new books (until 15 days after accession) are not issued to the readers.
