Commemorating National Librarian Day at Guru Nanak College, Sukhchainana Sahib, Phagwara

ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਲਜ ਸੁਖਚੈਨਆਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਫਗਵਾੜਾ ਦੀ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ “ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀਅਨ ਡੇਅ” ਜੋ ਕਿ ਡਾ. ਐਸ.ਆਰ. ਰੰਗਾਨਾਥਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ  ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾਮਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਦੇ 131ਵੇਂ ਜਨਮ ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ  ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਰੰਧਾਵਾ ਜੀ ਨੇ  ਸਟਾਫ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਲ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਰਤਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਰੇਨਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਤਿੰਦਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਲਾਹੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ।  ਕਾਲਜ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀਅਨ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਈ.ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੂਚਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ। ਮੈਡਮ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਿਆ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ, ਬੀ.ਕਾਮ. ਐਫ.ਐਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਸ ਭੋਗਲ ਨੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਡਾ. ਇੰਦਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ. ਰੀਨਾ ਵਿਜ, ਡਾ. ਸ਼ਮੀਕਾ ਕੁਮਾਰ,  ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਆਸ਼ੂਤੋਸ਼,     ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਅਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ. ਕੁਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।

Ranganathan, hailed as the father of library science in India, marks his 131st birth anniversary. Led by the esteemed Principal, Dr. Gurudev Singh Randhawa, the staff and students gathered to honor the legacy of Dr. Ranganathan and to embrace the transformative power of library services. Let's delve into the heart of this celebration, where Madam Gurpreet Kaur extended a warm welcome, and Mr. Bhogal, a B.Com (Hons) student, enlightened the audience about the college library's offerings.

Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, fondly remembered as the "Father of Library Science in India," left an indelible mark on the world of libraries. His contributions revolutionized library systems, emphasizing the importance of access to information for all. As we pay homage to his memory on National Librarian Day, we reaffirm our commitment to upholding his principles of inclusivity and knowledge dissemination.

Principal Dr. Gurudev Singh Randhawa emphasized the importance of embracing technological advancements in library services. In an era dominated by digitalization, it becomes imperative for libraries to evolve and adapt. Through workshops and training sessions, the college librarians empower students with the skills to navigate electronic resources effectively, ensuring they remain at the forefront of information access.

The college librarians took the opportunity to enlighten students about the myriad services offered by the library. From traditional book lending to accessing e-resources, the library serves as a gateway to a world of knowledge. Dr. Indrajeet Kaur, Dr. Reena Vij, Dr. Shamika Kumar, Prof. Ashutosh, Prof. Arvinder Kaur, Dr. Kulvinder Singh, Prof. Harpreet Kaur, and Gurpreet Kaur, along with enthusiastic students, actively participated in the celebration, underscoring the collaborative spirit that defines Guru Nanak College.
