Guru Nanak College, Sukhchainana Sahib, Phagwara, District Kapurthala, Punjab (India) is nestled near the revered Sikh shrine, Gurudwara Sukhchainana Sahib, which was built in sacred memory of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, the sixth Sikh Guru. The vision to establish this esteemed institution was conceived in 1969, as a tribute to the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. The college came into existence in 1970 and has since evolved into a beacon of knowledge and holistic education in the region.

The college boasts a modern and spacious campus, housing smart classrooms, well-equipped laboratories (including Computer, Accounting, Language, and Science Labs), a centrally air-conditioned and fully-stocked library, a Book Bank, Seminar Hall, Auditorium, and a multi-purpose soundproof hall. It also features the Guru Hargobind Sports Stadium, indoor sports courts, and state-of-the-art fitness and conditioning facilities.

With around 1300 students and 100 dedicated faculty members, the college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Commerce and Management, Humanities and Arts, Science, Computer Science, and IT Technology.

The institution has carved a niche in the field of sports, excelling in Football, Wrestling, Athletics, Boxing, Volleyball, Cricket, Tug of War, and Badminton, earning accolades at inter-college, inter-university, state, and national levels.

Apart from academics and sports, the college strongly promotes co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Students actively participate and achieve recognition in Youth Festivals, NCC, NSS, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, and various subject societies and associations, nurturing leadership and holistic development.

The college continues to fulfill its mission of delivering quality education with moral and social values, as envisioned by its late Chairman, S. Jagat Singh Palahi. Under the dynamic leadership of President of the Managing Committee, S. Jatinderpal Singh Palahi, and Principal Dr. Gurdev Singh Randhawa, the institution remains committed to shaping enlightened, responsible citizens.

Guru Nanak Central library Conducted a Library orientation program. During the session 2021-22 the students were taught about how the information resources are organized by using a classification tool like DDC for their easy location. In the orientation, students were informed about subscriptions of Newspapers, CDs, past exam papers and how they are displayed in library based on its subject for current information.

Students were provided hands-on activity, which strengthens their knowledge of accessing right information with more accuracy. Student learnt that there are better ways to tackle their assignments, project works and research than by just depending on Google by accessing subscribed online resources such as NLIST, and other direct access to authenticated journal articles, books and statistical information. Also, they learnt to use the library tools like ‘Subject Guide’ WEB OPAC, Article Indexing and Case Studies.
